If you want to leave the weekends free to have fun, hang out or study then this might be the job for you.
In a corrupt world where students have to slave away to pay for their overpriced education, there is only one weekday job that can step up to the challenge and that job is… The MET Team at Home Depot.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is the solution to all of your problems. The hero that you’ve been waiting for. The break from societies’ grip that every single person wants to release in order to hate their life a little bit less.
Why Do It ?
To have the weekends free and to have a laid-back job with no stress. This is one of the best parts that is just perfect for college.
The benefits are endless. You can combine this with another (higher paying) weekend job like being a server for example. You can have more time to go out and have fun on the weekends and really live that college life. You can also have a more distinct work/non-work time zones. Weekdays are for work and school, while weekends are for relaxing and having fun.
What Do You Do ?
MET stands for Merchandise Execution Team but everyone calls it MET Team for short. What you actually do is go around the store and make sure that each “bay” (essentially just a rack with inventory) is set according to the planogram (paper that says where every item should be).
Customers will come up to you every now and then to ask you questions but you can always play innocent and say “I’m sorry I don’t really know that answer, I just do inventory. Ask anyone wearing the Home Depot apron, they should know.” You can help them out if you want and actually learn something but your main focus is just servicing the bays.
Before talking about the hours, you should know that they are negotiable. With that said, let’s dive in. Typically, you will be asked to work from 6:00 AM till 2:30 PM with two 15 minute breaks and one 30 minute lunch break which is honestly not too bad except for waking up that early.
But reality is negotiable so ask for the hours that work for you. For example if you don’t want to wake up that early, then ask to work from 8:00 AM till 2:00 PM because it is due to school. They will usually understand and you’re in. Keep in mind, you can’t work any later than 2:30 PM. That said, you have a 6 hour shift with either two free 15 minute breaks or one 15 minute break and 30 minute unpaid lunch. Very simple job and very easy to do.
How To Apply ?
Go to Home Depot’s website and apply to any MET jobs that are in the merchandising category.
Once you are in, select In-Store Hourly for Job Type and for Category make sure you chose Merchandising, otherwise you’re going to get the wrong jobs. The rest is simple, find the closest store to you and apply.
So there you have it ladies and gentlemen. The break from societies’ grip lies just one click-of-a-button away. Enjoy your weekends and have fun.
